The Map Is Younger Than You Think

A world map looks like a fact about the planet. Almost all of it was drawn in the last hundred and fifty years, and a great deal of it inside living memory. Germany and Italy are younger countries than the United States. The United Nations started with 51 members and has 193. Fifteen countries appeared in one year, 1991, and the newest is younger than most of the people reading this.
