Pi Is a Letter

You have been reading Greek for years and nobody told you. Pi is the number in a circle, delta is the change in something, sigma means add these up, omega is printed on a resistor - and every one of them arrived as a squiggle with a job rather than a letter with a name. They are letters. Pi is the letter P. Learn the twenty-four in order, find out that ten of your own letters are Greek ones that barely changed, read the roots your science lessons are built out of in the alphabet they came from, and finish on the day somebody looked at an alphabet with no vowels in it and put some in.
