DIRECTIONS: Your feed is fitted to you, and so is everyone else’s. Read the box, then fill in the table.
Three things that stop being possible.

1. You cannot tell what is popular. What you see a lot of is what YOU get shown a lot of. Big everywhere and big only for you look the same from inside.

2. "Everyone is talking about it" stops meaning anything. It means everyone you were shown is talking about it.

3. You cannot see what you were not shown. Nothing is marked missing. A feed with a hole in it looks exactly like a feed.
Someone says…What would you need to know before believing it?
“Everyone hates that game now.”
“This song is everywhere.”
“Nobody is talking about it, so it can’t be true.”

Everyone Has a Different One — Checking

DIRECTIONS: Ask someone at home to open the same app. Compare the first ten things each of you sees.
Whose screenOut of the first ten, how many matched?
Mine and _______________________’s
  1. Before you looked, how many did you expect to match? Were you surprised?
  2. Two people who see almost nothing in common get into an argument about what is going on in the world. Say what each of them is reasonably concluding, and why they will both think the other is being stupid.
  3. Give one thing you could actually check something against, other than your own feed. It has to be something you would really use.
